"I wish that my Face, which reflects the intimate sorrow of my soul, and the suffering and love of my Heart, be better honoured. He who contemplates me consoles me."

To be spat in the face is probably one of the most humiliating, degrading and insulting offences one can suffer. The face is so “off-limits,” sacral, inviolable, a reflection of the soul! To be buffeted with spittle from filthy mouths is beyond imagination. And when the victim is God Almighty—in the person of the pure and innocent Saviour Jesus Christ—the insult is infinite! Yet, this is what His Divine Countenance suffered—barrages of physical blows and streams of vile sputum!

The Face of Our Lord, so disfigured and brutalized in the Passion, has always evoked pity and compassion. His glorious countenance, so miraculously imprinted on the veil of Veronica has inspired devotion across the centuries…

Our campaign in producing this Medal of the Holy Face and placing it in your hands, is in line with this long and venerable tradition. In our days, however, it has become a more formal devotion with specific devotional goals! This is due to the efforts of some holy souls and the Will of Our Lord Himself!

Please make use of this sacramental as a tool of reparation for blasphemy and all the barbaric assaults which Our Lord once physically suffered and with which the wicked continue to assail Him.

n 1885, Pope Leo XIII endorsed this devotion by establishing an Arch-confraternity of the Holy Face. In 1958, Pope Pius XII formally declared Shrove Tuesday, the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, the Feast of the Holy Face of Jesus for all Roman Catholics.

Our Lord's words to Blessed Pierina:

"I firmly wish that My face reflecting the intimate pains of my soul, the suffering and love of my heart, be more honoured! Whoever gazes upon me already consoles me."

“No one gives me a kiss of love on My face to make amends for the kiss of Judas."

"I wish that my Face, which reflects the intimate sorrow of my soul, and the suffering and love of my Heart, be better honoured. He who contemplates me consoles me."
