Father Esper said, "And not only does it (the rosary) aid our own spiritual growth — it also undermines the kingdom of Satan.”

The famous Vatican exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth testified, “One day a colleague of mine heard the devil say during an exorcism, ‘Every Hail Mary is like a blow on my head. If Christians knew how powerful the Rosary was, it would be my end.’”

Historical juncture

No one can deny that we are facing one of the most monumental crises in all of history. Often this assertion is met with all types of relativistic arguments to justify why this claim is exaggerated. “The world has been like this before,” “such and such a time was worse,” “just look at the time of two Popes or the World Wars, or the Barbarian invasions of Rome,” etc.

In his monumental work “Revolution and Counter-Revolution,” Professor Plinio Correa de Oliveira maps out the trajectory of the crisis unfolding today. He places the beginning of this eruption some 600 years back. He labels this monster which we see and feel all around us: The Revolution. He shows how this long process of destruction which the Revolution has wrought in every field of human activity, is directly responsible for the eruption of explosions of unconstrained pride and sensuality. These vices drive the Revolution forward, gaining ever more ground, and seeking the complete overthrow of all order, hierarchy and morality.

Indeed, Professor de Oliveira shows how the Revolution, in its feeding frenzy, constantly shifts the goalposts, striving for ever-more radical goals and intentions.

It is the longevity of this crisis, its destruction of the most sacred institutions, its hold on countless souls, and its unprecedented capacity (especially technologically), to universally influence every human being everywhere, that places us without doubt before the most serious crisis in history! Indeed, more than a century ago, Blessed Francisco Palau y Quer, a Carmelite of the same spiritual mould as Professor Plinio Correa de Oliveira, made some startling analyses of the socio-political and religious crises of his times (1811-1873). Denouncing the revolutionaries of his day, Blessed Palau did not mince his words:

“The Revolution is inspired by Satan himself. His goal is to destroy Catholicism completely and build a pagan social order on its ruins.”

“Once we lose our Faith, we know nothing; we remain totally ignorant of what today’s politics mean for tomorrow. The Catholic Faith is the column that guides us and sheds light on our present and future.”

He understood the revolutionary conquests (then in the ascendancy in many countries) in the sense of a “darkening” in the souls of whole peoples — their reasoning powers (lumen rationis) diminished, their will weakened, and their sensibility deadened.

St Anthony Mary Claret, writing in the same time-period, also pointed out the indispensable role of the Holy Church in unashamedly preaching her Mission and lighting the way out of the darkness…

“The sole reason why society is perishing is because it has refused to hear the word of the Church, which is the Word of life, the Word of God. All plans for salvation will be sterile if the great word of the Catholic Church is not restored in all its fullness.”

One can only tremble at seeing how far and deep this crisis is today!

All great saintly historical figures who rallied against the Satanic forces seeking the overthrow of society, understood that God has given enormous power to the Holy Virgin to defeat Satan and all his works!

Our need is so great! South Africa Needs Our Lady! To roll back the revolutionary hold on society and particularly to restore the family institution and some semblance of “order,” we need a Public Rosary Crusade and holy warriors, consecrated to Our Lady, armed with the greatest weapon of our times — the Rosary!

Here we make the words of Blessed Palau our own: “Let all who are still loyal and faithful to God, rise up as one and hurl ourselves on the enemy. Let us fight together as one man and we shall win!”

Beautiful and stirring words, to be understood naturally entirely in the spiritual sense. Words which would be reiterated a short while later by Our Lady at Fatima in 1917, when she revealed that the only hope for peace in the 20th century would be prayer — especially the Rosary, amendment of life, and reparation.
